What a Plank
LONDON, May 31 (Reuters) - Patriotic English fans who attach flags to their cars could be in trouble with the police.
http://football.guardian.co.uk/breakingnews/feedstory/0,,-5856468,00.htmlMotorists in rural Hampshire have been warned their World Cup flags are frightening the horses.
"It is commendable that the nation is getting behind their football team, but I do have concerns that motorists may cause an animal to bolt and possibly cause injury to itself, its rider or innocent passers-by," said Police Constable Derek Grist.
Thousands of cars and vans across the country are sporting the English flag, often attached to the radio antenna, in the run-up to the World Cup which starts in Germany on June 9.
Grist, the local force's
Equine Liaison Officer, said drivers could face assault charges if their flag flew off and struck a pedestrian or a cyclist and hurt them.
"We are not trying to be killjoys. All we ask for is a little bit of consideration," he said in a statement.
WTF is does an Equine Liaison Officer do?? Is it like a Horse Whisperer? Is he the twat that has to chase horses down dual carridgeways.
What a plank, talk about not being able to see the big picture!
There's even a dedicated website - sheesh

The Daily Diana
Another day, another picture of Diana on the cover of the "Daily Express".

Why? Nothing else happening in the world?
How much is Al-Fayed paying for this coverage?
It's pretty sick how they keep on going on and on and on and on and on about it.
There may be something fishy about her death but does it benefit anyone to rehash old ground 3-5 times a week? If it's because it's a good "seller" then it's pretty sad that portions of the British public can't let go after 9 years.
Rock On Tommy
Was recently reading the excellent book
"Yes Man" and thought that I needed to say "yes" to things a bit more and live a little.
So Chris said, "I've got tickets to see a band on Wednesday - fancy going ".
I immediately said no, couldn't be bothered going home and getting changed after work, Hassle Hassle etc etc.
Then, after work, walking to get the train I though "F@ck it, get a grip, say yes more". So changed my mind called him and said I'd go after all and just head along in my work clothes.
It was an great night! Turned out it was the
re-launch of the Hard Rock Cafe in Edinburgh so there was a free bar, free food and great music.
Chris knows the first band that were on (
Bleeker) and they played a great acoustic set (especially the cover of U2's "One") and the headliners "
El Presidente" were pretty good as well (the guitarist was tremendous).
Chris even won a signed Guitar in the raffle albeit it was an
Epiphone rather than a "real"
Gibson Les Paul.
So, class night and all because I decided to say yes where I would normally say no.
Hamburg Trip
Weeeeeeeeeel, just about recovered from Eddie's Stag Do in Hamburg - What a place.
Fair enough we didn't venture out much from the "entertainment" quarter but there was enought there to keep us occupied for the two days we were there. Oh and went to the Harbour Party which was a really well organised boat show/fair type thing - pretty cool.
Tips:Beer & Food prices were very reasonable although spirits are extortionate (€27 for 4 voddies and coke (a cola)).
Germans very friendly, even to shambling groups of guys in the 23rd hour of a drinking session
If your Flying Ryanair to Lubeck, get a taxi to Hamburg. A wee bit dearer (€80 for 6 seater taxi one way we paid) but worth the reduction of hassle. unless..... you get into the taxi back to Lubeck and it takes you to Hamburg airport instead!
U.S. keeps the phone records of most of it's citizens

So they try to find out who the terrorists are by playing a massive game of "
6 degrees to Kevin Bacon" - utter madness.
How convenient that they could roll this out right after the attacks on September the 11th gave them the opportunity. Imagine, having something like that waiting and ready to go? What a co-incidence.
Like
boiling a frog, people have got so used to their privacy being stripped away in greater and greater degrees that this story won't even cause a ripple 'cos it's yet another "anti-terrorism" initiative.
Edit: A quick search on Google News bring up this story (
