  Euromillions Lottery :-O
£100,000,000.00

That is a hoor o' a lot of cash - almost enough to buy a house in the New Town in Edinburgh.
You'd be "earning" 16k per day on interest alone.

I asked my beloved what she would do if she won that amount,

"keep working" says she

"Aye right" say I

"Well......I'd maybe only work part-time"

I've no idea what I would do (turn East Fife into an SPL club??) but it's hard to imagine that a single piece of paper in my pocket could be worth so much cash.

Scotland to Qualify for Euro 08 - it's still mathematically possible
But it's not going to happen, bad luck to be put in the same group as France AND Italy but to get Ukraine as well is just rank rotten luck.

I guess a hard group kinda had to be expected after the "easy one" for Euro 04 - Even Bertie Bombscare got us to the playoff from that one.

If Scotland get third in this group and build a strong squad of players then they're doing well.
There'll be some class matches at Hampden and hopefully, I'll be able to get a trip abroad as well. France & Italy would be first choices then maybe Lithuania/Ukraine. Don't fancy Georgia or the Faroe Islands anyway.

  Ya Dancer
One the guys that did the original Elite is working on a new version... superb

Official FAQ

  Specc-tacular
Fantastic website about games and emulators for the undisputed king of Computers - the ZX Spectrum.

The "Speccy" was my first computer.
I'd played on Jude's 48k Spectrum for years but then, finally, I had my own (well, shared with my bruv) 128k + 2a. It was the dogs bollix.

There are some classic games on that site, Football Manager, Way of the Exploding Fist but my favourite without a doubt was Elite. How no one has made an online version that game is a total mystery to me.

Top Five Speccy Games
1) Elite - Huge, open-ended Space trading game the first "virtual world"
2) Rockstar Ate My Hamster - surreal, funny rock star game, doing music on a speccy though?
3) How to be a Complete Bastard - Any game with a "Fart" and "Pissed" meter is brilliant when you are under 12 - nearly ruined by crap way of displaying the graphics though
4) Skooldaze/Bak 2 Skool - We don't need no education
5) Fantasy World Dizzy - great game, included speech(!!!!) and I finished it, once

Honourable mentions go to Football Manager & Kane

  Football Prices
Was going to head down to watch Dunfermline play plastic team livvy in the League Cup semi last night until I realised that the price would be £18-£20 for a ticket.

The crowd was only 4,600-ish, pathetic for that stage of the cup but understandable given the cost and the fact that the livvy franchise was involved.

But in general, how can anyone afford to go and see football matches as a neutral? When I've had nothing else on, I've fancied heading to watch a game at Easter Road or Tynecastle but the cost has always put me off - how many more people are affected like this? All that's left is the hardcore and clubs have less incentive to improve as those fans will buy their season tickets and put up with anything.

From an East Fife point of view the £9 (honestly!) that it costs to go and watch them is far too expensive for what you get - supporters treated with contempt, watching unmotivated youngsters on one year contracts going through the motions in Scotland's bottom division. You do get a good view of a power station though......

I wonder what the average cost of a football ticket compared to something like cinema tickets is over the last 20 or 30 years - I bet a massive differential has built up.

Some things should NOT be on the internet
The internet has enabled global communciation, massively improved the sharing of knowledge and allowed millions of people to create their own boring blogs (like this one).

However, apart from the really dark and repulsive underweb of sick stuff, there are also some sites that in idea and execution seem so so so wrong.

Ladies, Gentlemen and Googlebots, I give you.....The Official Timmy Mallet Website

Fair play to the guy that he's still doing his schtick but..... give me "Jossy's Giants" any day of the week, just for the theme tune alone.

Italian town fights back against Macdonalds culture
"What took place was a small war between us and McDonald's," said Onofrio Pepe, ... "Our bullets were focaccia. And sausage. And bread. It was a peaceful war, without any spilling of blood."

There's a good film in there somewhere...

  Football Scout?? Me?
The young Southampton player I mentioned previously looks to be going to Arsenal for 15m!

I thought he was good but £15,000,000?? considering he would be able to leave after 4/5 years for nothing and that he'll not be a starter straight away, it is a huge gamble for Arsenal and shows just how much money there is in Football these days.

"Real" View & Google Earth View
This picture was taken by me in California.

This one is of the same spot grabbed from Google Earth

That is pretty impressive.

Is there any way of linking pictures to specific locations in Google Earth?

i.e. If I can upload that picture to the Google Earth server, everyone who viewed that location could look at the picture.

It would be a tricky job but it would add so much more depth to the program.

  Cool Concept
I was reading the forum of the excellent Fortean Times website and read something that got me thinking.

Someone was talking about contactees from the 50's/60's and said that one had been "told" by "Aliens" that "God creates the universe from second to second - if he didn't it would cease to exist".

Regardless of the fruitloop source, that is such a cool concept. I mean an omnipotent God must be bloody bored if she ;-) created the universe in a week & knows everything that has been, is and will be.

Maybe humans have been given some measure of free will as a way of adding unpredicability to the "system" and keep the chief interested. It would also help explain the conflict between free will and predestination.

Maybe you have free will to go down a number of "paths" (but they are still set paths) with every decision you make, this leads to more choices etc etc . So is life like a "choose your own adventure" book that's written in real time based on your choices?

Dunno, but it makes you think though.
